FOUNDER/EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Joseph Sivoli is an empathetic entrepreneur with extensive experience in IT, human resources, operations, and accounting. As the Founder and Executive Director of Beacon Health, he is dedicated to fostering a workplace culture that values individuality and prioritizes compassionate service delivery. Joseph is passionate about ethical practices and believes that every client and staff member deserves respect and understanding.
His leadership is driven by a commitment to empowering the LGBTQ+ community and ensuring access to essential support services. Joseph's vision for Beacon Health is rooted in inclusivity and advocacy, striving to create a safe space where individuals can thrive.
Outside of his professional responsibilities, Joseph enjoys singing karaoke, fishing, and camping in his RV, activities that allow him to recharge and connect with nature. He believes that balance and self-care are essential for effective leadership and community engagement.
Joemar Machin Torres
PRESIDENT
Joemar Machin Torres is a passionate advocate for mental health and LGBTQ+ empowerment. As a proud Puerto Rican and member of the LGBTQ+ community, he has dedicated his life to fostering resilience and support for those who have faced adversity. Having personally overcome childhood trauma, Joemar understands the profound impact of accessible mental health resources and strives to ensure others receive the support they need to thrive.
With a strong belief in the transformative power of therapy, Joemar credits his therapeutic journey for enhancing both his personal and professional life. His commitment to Beacon Health stems from his dedication to creating a safe and affirming space for LGBTQ+ individuals, particularly those navigating their healing journeys.
Beyond his advocacy work, Joemar has a deep passion for the culinary arts. He spends his free time refining his skills as a chef and has ambitions of launching his own empanadas business. Whether through food, mentorship, or community leadership, Joemar is committed to making a lasting impact.
Tim Barnes
TREASURER
Tim Barnes is a dedicated financial professional with a strong background in accounting and nonprofit management. A Florida native, he has always been passionate about giving back to his community and supporting organizations that create meaningful change. As Treasurer of Beacon Health, Tim plays a vital role in ensuring the financial health and sustainability of the organization, helping to expand resources for LGBTQ+ individuals in need.
With experience working in both corporate and nonprofit sectors, Tim understands the importance of financial stewardship in driving an organization’s mission forward. His commitment to Beacon Health stems from his deep belief in the necessity of accessible mental health and support services for the LGBTQ+ community in Orlando and beyond.
Outside of his professional and volunteer work, Tim enjoys spending time with his partner, Jon, and their beloved mini dachshund, Oliver. He also has a passion for travel, exploring new cuisines, and supporting local arts and cultural events.
Helen Adelt
SECRETARY
Helen Adelt is a retired manager and business analyst with a passion for community service and advocacy. With a background in business operations and strategic planning, she brings valuable organizational and leadership skills to Beacon Health. Throughout her career, Helen has been dedicated to fostering inclusive environments and supporting initiatives that empower marginalized communities.
Deeply committed to Beacon’s mission, Helen donates her time, talent, and resources to ensure LGBTQ+ youth, especially those who have experienced trauma, have access to the support and care they need to thrive. She is a firm believer in the power of mentorship and mental health advocacy, striving to create opportunities for young people to build confidence and resilience.
In her free time, Helen enjoys traveling, reading, and volunteering for causes that promote equality and social justice.
Kristopher Thompson
DIRECTOR OF VOLUNTEER SERVICES
Kristopher Thompson brings over 20 years of experience in meeting and event management, currently serving as Vice President of Operations at First Watch Strategies and Events. He holds a bachelor's degree in education from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls and a master's degree in Meeting and Event Management from San Diego State University.
His extensive career includes working with renowned organizations such as Walt Disney World, Universal Orlando Resort, and the American Automobile Association. Kristopher has managed large-scale public events, including Disney’s Christmas Day Parade filming, grand openings, press events, political engagements, and movie premieres. Before joining First Watch, he played a key role in the 2022 Special Olympics USA Games, overseeing critical operations such as transportation, emergency response, safety, and security.
Kristopher has been instrumental in incorporating LGBTQ+ clients into First Watch Strategies and Events’ portfolio, working with Pride festivals such as Come Out With Pride (Orlando, FL), Capital Pride (Washington, DC), and WorldPride 2025 (Washington, DC).
Scott Latham
IT DIRECTOR
Scott Latham is a dedicated supporter of the LGBTQ+ community with a diverse background spanning technology, emergency services, and education. With experience in IT, search and rescue, emergency medical services, firefighting, and home health care, he has always been committed to helping others. His career path also led him to aviation, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering and worked as a pilot before transitioning into teaching mathematics.
Scott brings over 15 years of experience in sales, public relations, and management, skills that have shaped his understanding of the importance of community support and mental health advocacy. As IT Director and an active volunteer at Beacon Health, he is passionate about leveraging technology and organizational resources to enhance services for LGBTQ+ individuals.
Beyond his professional expertise, Scott has a long history of volunteering with fundraising organizations, HeadStart programs, and initiatives supporting individuals with disabilities and senior health assistance. He believes strongly in the value of therapy and mental health support within the LGBTQ+ community and is committed to ensuring accessible resources for those in need.
In his free time, Scott enjoys piloting, SCUBA diving, boating, camping, RV travel, and motorcycling—activities that allow him to stay connected with both adventure and personal reflection.
